JIMMY JIB RENTALS & EXPERIENCED OPERATORS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is ACS/Aerial Camera Support different from other Jimmy Jib suppliers?
Let's face it, in the 23 years or so that Jimmy Jibs have been around, owner/operators have come and gone.

The most important question you can ask a potential Jib operator is: "HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN OPERATING JIMMY JIB CRANES"? Many camera operators believe they can buy a jib and claim to be an "experienced jib operator". Operating a remote Jimmy Jib requires a much different skill set than operating a camera on a tripod. We've focused on being the best Jimmy Jib Operator's around. We've focused on that goal for over 20 years.

What have you worked on in the past?
Our Jimmy Jib Operators and Jibs have been used on 100's of television shows, feature films, commercials, concerts, sporting events, industrial's, documentaries and music videos.

Is our experience more expensive?
No! We know what other Jimmy Jib's and Jib Operator's cost, if we didn't, our business would have failed years ago. There are a few factors that explain differences in cost. At a quick glance, a inexperienced operator will probably give you a cheaper, bottom-line quote so he can pay off his gear. In reality, that new operator will inevitably cost you more when it comes down to actually getting the shot you want. They'll cost you more in overtime. They'll cost you more in frustration. They'll cost you more in stress.

Operating Jimmy Jib Cranes is what we do - it's not one of the things we
can do.

As any experienced producer knows, geographic location determines the cost of operators and equipment. We are competitively priced with
anyone supplying a Jimmy Jib in the Northeast, and happy to work within your budget.

How does renting a Jimmy Jib from ACS/Aerial Camera Support work?
It's simple! Our Jib Operator shows up at your location with the entire Jimmy Jib package, builds the Jib, mounts your camera and operates for all of the shots that require the Jib. We share our experience to help design moves that help tell your story.

What kind of camera can be put on the Jimmy Jib Triangle?
Most all film and video camera can be mounted on a Jimmy Jib. Generally speaking, it is the lens that determines how easily the camera interfaces with the Jimmy Jib electronics. Most all industrial or broadcast video cameras with a Fujinon, Canon or Nikon lens interface with no problem. RED, 16mm, & 35mm film cameras also work well on the Jimmy Jib. With some of these cameras, we by-pass the Jimmy Jib controls and use focus and zoom controls that are better suited for the particular lens.

Can I put a teleprompter on your Jimmy Jib?
Yes.

How is the camera controlled?
The pan and tilt of the camera is controlled by a joystick. Lens functions, like focus and zoom, are controlled by the same type of "rocker" switch found on standard zoom controllers, or by a microforce handle. When using film lenses, some AC's prefer to use wireless focus and zoom control.

How easy is it to move a Jimmy Jib?
Our Jimmy Jibs are built on a repositioning dolly, so moving from one spot to another is no problem depending on the terrain. Our Jimmy Jibs can also be put on dolly track if an additional axis is required.
